A web application designed to capture, store and distribute metadata. It is based on ISO and INSPIRE Standards and allows organisations to share access to large data catalogues.

OVERVIEW
As organisations and agencies develop increasingly large repositories of data, it becomes more important to capture information on this data. This information, known as metadata, facilitates searching, browsing and sharing of data. Metadata ensures the right data is available to the right people at the right time. Accurate metadata can also identify redundancy or use of inappropriate versions of the information reducing costs or improving decision making.
Stratus Gallery is a platform-independent toolkit for creating and distributing metadata based on ISO and INSPIRE standards, allowing enterprises to organise and share access to large data catalogues. The open architecture provides low cost extensions or custom metadata schemas to suit internal requirements while supporting industry geospatial standards.
The Stratus Gallery console offers the ability to create, edit, delete and
publish metadata records with an efficient, intuitive user interface. Stratus
Gallery's web-based delivery offers secure access to anyone with a web browser.
This also provides the opportunity to devolve metadata capture and management
to data owners, making tasks more manageable. The web interface has been built
using the latest Web 2.0 technologies and provides a rich user interface. The
application is intuitive and guides a user through capture and discovery of
metadata within the catalog.
Integration
The Web Service API provides a set of secure platform independent tier for interoperability with all corporate systems. The Web Services can be integrated as part of a larger SOA environment and provide contextual information for address or mapping data in back office applications.
The Use of Standards
In order to capture and share metadata efficiently several standard schemas
exit. Stratus Gallery supports GEMINI and ISO 19115 standards out of the box.
Service offerings are also available to rapidly customise the application to
adopt any standard or custom schema.
Whilst the application has a rich user interface it has still been designed
with web accessibility in mind. The interface can be hosted for public or partner
access and continue to conform to many web accessibility standards.
An Increasingly Valuable Tool
Metadata helps describe the value of information and how it contributes to the business. Metadata is the new key analysis and decision making tool. It is the only approach to allow further decisions to be made with respect to data accuracy, risk, ownership and cost of the information.
